Welcome to this week's Melbourne events, exhibitions, sports and
community guide.

This week... the Melbourne International Arts Festival begins, with
exhibitions held all across the city, while the Melbourne Stencil
Festival also gets its sneaker in the door with special events held
at 1000Pound Bend, as opposed to the wall of your local milk bar.

There's also a swag of multicultural goings-on with Activation!
(formerly known as Ashwood Family Fun Day) offering special
activities to celebrate the Delhi Commonwealth Games (formerly
known as a well-organised affair).

St Kilda fans looking to drown their woes might want to bop along
to Shedfest, a weekend of open wineries held in the Yarra Valley,
likewise for those who simply hate to see Collingwood win anything
from a Premiership to a meat tray. Collingwood supporters can also
join the revelry just to ruin it for everyone else.

This week Hisense Arena also plays host to one of the biggest dance
events with Godskitchen making a return to Melbourne, this year
with the doof-doof music accompanied by state of the art 3
Dimensional visuals. Most of those attending will be 2 Dimensional,
accompanied by glow sticks and stupid pants that look like a
skinned Muppet. Vale Fozzie Bear.

Here are highlights from the latest newsletter.
