Welcome to this week's Melbourne events, exhibitions, sports and
community guide.

This week... Australia gets it's very own Saint, as does a very
proud Melbourne, when Mary McKillop is canonized with celebrations
held at the Royal Exhibition Building along with in Fitzroy, the
birthplace of the miraculous ol' gal. The City of Hume begins their
musical festivities with the Hume Festival of Music (they sensibly
dropped the word "Winter" from it and moved it accordingly)
offering concerts and performances aplenty, many of which will be
held in the glorious splendour of the grey outdoors.

You can also pump those legs of your and cart your bum across to
the Melbourne Cycling Festival where you can enjoy a grand old time
at Alexandra Gardens, or you can keep pumping those legs and
continue on to Rowville's Stringybark Festival, where in the spirit
of sustainability all those who make their way there by bike or
public transport receive free entry.

Granted, if you're an adult it'll save you two precious dollars,
but that's more than a drop in the ocean when you account for the
cost of a train ticket, especially if you're desperately making
time on one of those ridiculous two-hour tickets that only allow
you to get anywhere if you're a Time Lord or Marty McFly. You still
owe us all an hour Mr Kennet. And Brumby, don't get me started...

Here are highlights from the latest newsletter.
