Welcome to this week's Melbourne events, exhibitions, sports and
community guide.
This week... multicultural celebrations abound yet again with
Festivals covering the traditional fares of Nepal, Spain, Poland
and even the distant land of Clunes. There's much ado at CERES in
East Brunswick, celebrating the Kingfisher and its decision to
roost on the fair banks of Merri Creek, and in Berwick you can
regale in all things historical with the Timeline Fair showcasing
re-enactments from eras as far back as ancient Greece.
For those who are lacking in agility and grace, there's the Klop
Championships at Birrarung Marr where they can try their hand at
the popular sport from Finland which involves throwing a wooden peg
while enjoying free entertainment.
Things also get a tad saucy on the cinematic front with the Sexy
International Film Festival bringing some titillation to
Melbourne's indie screens with a program of risqué shorts, and not
the kind worn by those dubious joggers. I swear there was one in
Brunswick Street once who put me off dim-sims for years.
Here are highlights from the latest newsletter.
