Welcome to this week's Melbourne events, exhibitions, sports and
community guide.
This week... there's quite a bit of goings on for foodies, with one
of Melbourne's best loved pastimes, if not an outright sport,
taking the limelight with the Australian Coffee Festival
celebrating our vibrant café culture. There's also the DMP Harvest
Week Festival with a program of events showcasing the best produce
and wine of the Daylesford Macedon Ranges.
Cinefiles also get a treat this week with the return of the Message
Sticks Indigenous Film Festival offering a program of free
screenings. And Melbourne honours one of its most iconic figures,
Australia's original diva and grand dame - long before our Edna
Everage - Dame Nellie Melba.
Celebrating the 150th birthday this week of the legendary singer,
the festival program features concerts, exhibitions and tours where
you can learn all sorts of interesting tid-bits, such as the fact
that another of Mewlbourne's icons, Scots Church on Collins Street
where Nellie Melba's funeral was held, was in fact built by her
father.
Here are highlights from the latest newsletter.
